Flair Fokker DR1 Build
« on: January 17, 2021, 10:10:05 AM »
Not sure what year I am into with this build but it would be safe to say too many. In my defense I do have 3 builds going. 1/4 Scale Super Cub finished with Stits and a Yellow P47. The Dr1 is the focus though, it's time.

I just finished setting the incidences. You can't see them all in the picture but there are 6 incidence meters involved LOL. This one is covered in Micafilm and a small amount of Solartex on the bottom wing. I have yet to decide on the top coats. I do know it will not be sprayed. This one has a Laser 200 V-Twin on the nose. Color scheme will be blue and white. I am going to do some testing with Poly Tone. Weight so far is low. As pictured it is under 7 Lbs.

Very much stand off scale though. I did make a large error and chose not to fix it. I bet Lorne will be the one to catch it :-)

I have made some progress on the DR-1. I have completed the mounts for the wing tip skids. I also have the entire model covered now. One last hurdle, the landing gear. I had large plans but nope, I have kept it simple. Pictures coming

I had to share this; it's been a long build. First time on its wheels with the wings bolted on.

Hi Les,
100% yes :-)
I will have 2 to maiden this year. I will have my kit bashed Super Cub ready to go soon too. Then I'll be concentrating on the Yellow P-47 build.

It just never goes according to plan LOL. I am getting both excited and worried. If we build it, will it fly! I have completed the last bit of construction needed; the rest is now cosmetic.  ;D

I so can't wait to fly her! I'll applying the Poly Brush and Poly Tone soon. I'll be spraying the Cub in the back ground at the same time. It could be interesting LOL

Well work continues but I have yet to spray it. I have good excuses LOL.
I did shift gears again for a short bit, I have installed a Laser 180 in my Fokker DVIII
This should be interesting. Cooler weather and less ash falling from the sky should allow me to paint soon.

Hi Les
Most definitely. I’m looking forward to it. I’m using the same blue paint on my super cub. I couldn’t finish the DR1 until I finished the Cub. Cub is still not done. Lol
I will fly both of them this year. 👍
